Toyota takes home more residual value and retained value awards

Published on February 28 2017

Toyota vehicles have built a solid reputation for resale value over the years, a reputation that is not about to disappear as the Japanese carmaker has just captured 15 other prestigious titles related to the residual and retained value of several of its models.

Toyota once again the benchmark in terms of resale value

Toyota has also been named the manufacturer with the best overall retained value for its pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles. The award, along with eight awards related to retained value of various vehicles in the Toyota range, was awarded earlier this month by the Canadian Black Book, the benchmark in resale value information and calculation for nearly 30 years.

Toyota also obtained six Best Residual Value awards handed out by ALG. That is more than any other manufacturer for a third consecutive year. The eight individual titles obtained from the Canadian Black Book are also an industry best for the 8th consecutive year.

Since 2010, Toyota has won 49 Canadian Black Book Best Retained Value awards. Its closest competitor received 12. This year, the CBB assessed the resale value of all models since 2013.

"Each of the outstanding products we offer to Canadians is supported by our commitment to provide owners with a superior experience," said Larry Hutchinson, President and CEO of TCI. "These awards are important because they underscore the long-term benefits that our customers enjoy on our entire range of vehicles - outstanding quality, excellent fuel economy and reduced cost of ownership."

Here are the Toyota vehicles that took home CBB’s Best Retained Value award and/or ALG’s best residual value award.

Toyota Tundra - full-size pick-up: CBB and ALG (eighth consecutive year for each award)

Toyota Tacoma - CBB small pick-up (eighth consecutive year) and ALG mid-size pick-up (seventh consecutive year)
