2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro - King of the Unbeaten Path

Published on September 20 2016

When it comes to utility and convenience, Toyota has one of the largest offerings on the market. From hybrids to compacts to full-size SUVs and even pickup trucks. But in case you need even more utility and maybe some off-road capacity thrown in the mix, Toyota now has the perfect lineup of vehicles for you, thanks to their growing TRD Pro family.  This year, joining the 4Runner and the Tundra TRD Pro will be the all-new Tacoma, the ideal blend of utility and all-terrain capability.

More Powerful Than Ever, Inside and Out

For 2017, the new Toyota Tacoma received a brand new look inspired by the full-size 4Runner SUV as well as a brand new chassis, making this third generation of the model both stronger and more modern. The design is more muscular with a massive hexagonal grille, a bumper-wide air intake with imbedded fog pods and a new projector headlight design.

TRD Pro also means a flight sporty off-road features designed to push the model’s capabilities even further. This iteration of the Tacoma comes equipped with 16-inch TRD alloy wheels with All-Terrain Kevlar tires, an aluminum front skid plate, a set of Rigid Industries LED fog lights, projector beam headlights, FOX 2.5 Internal Bypass tuned shocks, tuned front springs and rear suspension, a premium audio system with navigation, wheel-mounted controls, leather-clad steering wheel, rear park assist sonar, blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert. Going off the beaten paths can now be done with flair.

An Impressive Array of Options

The TRD Pro package is available on the V6 equipped Tacoma, but there are a wide variety of powertrain pairings to choose from within the lineup. The 2017 Toyota Tacoma is available in a rear-wheel drive, 4x2 layout powered by a 2.7L, four-cylinder engine rated at 159 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque, the perfect pick for a very capable entry-level pickup truck. Where and when the four-wheel drive is required, the Tacoma has got you covered with two available powertrains: a tuned up 2.7L engine producing 159 hp and 278 lb-ft of torque or the all-new 3.5L V6 Atkinson Cycle block rated at 180 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque. If most versions come with a standard 6-speed automatic transmission, the four-wheel drive Access Cab is, believe it or not, still available with a five-speed manual transmission for full control of the torque when you need it. The 2017 Tacoma offers a payload capacity of up to 680 kg and a towing capacity that can reach 2,720 kg.

And just like that, Toyota have turned their mid-size pickup truck into a beast of the outdoors. Contact us today to learn more about the 2017 Toyota Tacoma at Mendes Toyota, including the 2017 TRD Pro package that will get you further, wherever you have to go.
