2016 Toyota Yaris sedan - Toyota and bold do go in the same sentence

The 2016 Toyota Yaris is meant to surprise

Toyota has been keeping very busy. After a bold restyling of the new Corolla, the Yaris sedan was next on the list. The manufacturer introduced earlier this year a more aggressive-looking subcompact and aggressive it is. The all-new 2016 Toyota Yaris is styled to impress and to stand out from the crowd. And now, it was time for the sedan to be redesigned.

Under all the metal and the plastic, we find a new high-strength body structure and high-tensile steel has been chosen for the task for its power to add strength without adding weight to a structure. On the outside, the result is quite striking. The falcon-eye headlamps converge towards a wide-open, semi-hexagonal grille. Accentuated lines and ridges define the hood and the bumper, underlying every component. The rear portion is also pretty intimidating, with very prominent character lines and taillights as mean-looking as they come. The overall look feels more mature and premium. The era of the metallic blue, bright-eyed Yaris is a thing of the past. Seeing the Yaris in your rear view mirror will now make you feel hunted.

A sophisticated interior for the 2016 Toyota Yaris

The interior was not neglected and received a similar treatment. Once more, we feel like we are in an adult’s car, with leather-looking trimmings, contrasting stitching on the dashboard and silver accents. The round air duct nozzles elegantly complement the style and the sleek center console belted with silver accents adds to the modern charm. Four adults will comfortably sit onboard and the 382-liter trunk volume offers a layout that maximizes the space that will allow you to easily go about your daily life without limitations. And the 60/40 split folding seats add to the magic.

The new Yaris also comes with a promise of an improved menu of premium features spread out on two trim levels and that include air conditioning, commander control with 7-inch display screen and Bluetooth connectivity, heated front seats, backup camera, cruise control, wheel-mounted controls, power windows, keyless entry and push button start.

Both versions of the 2016 Yaris come equipped with a 1.5-liter engine rated at 106 hp and 103 lb-ft of torque, teamed with your choice of a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic one. If the manual gearbox will get you a combined 6.7L/100km, the automatic one ups the ante with 6.4L/100km.
