2015 Toyota RAV4 – Spacious, Good Fuel Economy, AWD

Published on October 17 2014

With a sleeker, curvier shape than it once had, the 2015 Toyota RAV4 combines the maneuverability of a compact car with good fuel economy ratings, a spacious interior, good visibility, and finally the added traction of available all-wheel drive. Whether for singles, couples, or families, the 2015 RAV4 is worth considering.

The 2015 Toyota RAV4 is a practical vehicle to have, especially for families. Aside from its clean, attractive styling, the SUV is both comfortable and spacious, and it has quite a few safety features to help reassure mom or dad.

Vehicle stability and traction control, an anti-lock braking system, brake assist, and smart stop technology are just a few of the elements that come standard with the 2015 RAV4. Safety systems like lane departure alert, a blind spot monitor, and rear cross traffic alert are optional on the top model. A rearview camera and backup sensors are also available, depending on the model.

In terms of driving the SUV, the 2015 RAV4 should provide easy, confident handling. The vehicle is offered in several different models: FWD LE, FWD XLE, AWD LE, AWD XLE, and AWD Limited, and all are equipped with a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine. From this engine, owners can expect a total output of 176 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque.

There is only one transmission type as well, one that owners will surely appreciate since the slick 6-speed automatic with sequential shift mode is actually quite responsive. There are also three driving modes: Normal, ECO, and Sport that will either enhance fuel efficiency or shift timing and steering response, depending on the mode selected. Add to that a solid overall ride from the SUV, and the 2015 Toyota RAV4 has firmly made its way onto your radar.

Fuel economy ratings for the crossover SUV are 10.0/7.6 liters per 100 kilometers (city/highway), with a combined rating of 8.9 with the the FWD versions, and a combined city/highway rating of 9.5 L/100km with AWD.

Other aspects to consider have to do with the 2015 RAV4’s interior space. For example, the SUV will seat a total of five passengers, and the second-row seats offer a 60/40-split, fold and recline.

With 1,090 liters of cargo volume, owners can throw a variety of things into the back, from groceries, to school bags, camera equipment, and so on. Consumers can also fold the rear seats down, which allows them to benefit from a total of 2,080 liters. That’s almost twice the original cargo volume.

Finally, features like heated front seats, premium fabric seat surfaces, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, dual-zone automatic climate control, a push start button, and a smart key system are offered, depending on the model.

Navigation, satellite radio, and voice recognition are available too.

With a starting price of $23,870 MSRP, families in particular may want to test the 2015 Toyota RAV4 SUV, as it offers everything from nice styling, to a comfortable and spacious interior, good versatility, and optional AWD.
