2015 Toyota Corolla – Bolder, More Modern

Published on October 17 2014

The 2015 Toyota Corolla continues to provide all the goods the previous fully redesigned model had to offer, such as sharper and bolder styling, increased rear-seat space, improved fuel economy, and a newer interior. Moving forward, the Corolla has a few enhancements to offer for 2015 to ensure that it remains a compelling choice for consumers in need of a compact sedan.

Early in its career the Corolla was considered the best-selling car worldwide, and remains one of the best-selling vehicles to-date. Its reputation for quality, durability, and reliability certainly helped it to garner quite a bit of attention, making it a pure temptation in its own right.

The 2015 Toyota Corolla continues to offer much of that essence, and remains a vehicle worthy of consumer attention. It has now evolved to provide buyers with modern necessities, including a crispier style, newer interior design and technology, and better fuel economy ratings. It also has an affordable starting price of $15,995 MSRP.

Offered in several models, CE, LE (CVT), S and LE ECO (CVT), the first three models are equipped with a 1.8-litre 4-cylinder engine, generating 132 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque. The LE ECO is equipped with a version of the 1.8-litre that generates slightly more horsepower (140 hp), and a little less torque (129 lb-ft). It also offers better fuel economy notably thanks to features like low-resistance tires and active shutters in the grill.

Owners of the 2015 Toyota Corolla will benefit from much the same driving experience as the previous model offered, but with just a tad more zest. Overall, buyers can expect the new Corolla to be both comfortable and capable like its predecessors, providing drivers with a smooth and well-mannered ride.

Owners can also choose among, depending on the model/ engine, a choice of several transmissions. The CE and S for example come standard with a 6-speed manual, and a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) is standard with the LE CVT and LE ECO CVT, hence the name of the model. A 4-speed automatic and a CVT transmission with Sequential Multi-Mode Shifter and paddle shifters are also available.

Consumers should be quite content with the fuel economy ratings of the LE CVT model: 7.9/6.1 litres per 100 kilometres (city/highway), with a combined rating of 7.1. The LE ECO CVT model has an even better combined rating of 6.9 L/100km.

Inside the vehicle, the new Corolla looks great, and has clearly evolved to match today’s styling trends, while also maintaining that unmistakable “I am a Corolla” vibe. Modern and spacious due to the style and layout, the sedan features easy-to-find and simple-to-use controls. Buyers will have a choice between bucket seats, or sport seats if they select the S trim, and heated front seats are available.

Other features to consider include an available leather-wrapped steering wheel and an 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat. A rearview camera, keyless entry, and push button start are also elements to consider, along with available USB, Bluetooth, a 6.1-inch audio display with voice recognition, and satellite radio.

The 2015 Toyota Corolla is still, at heart, a Corolla, and continues to promote a sense of security, reliability, and affordability. Bolder styling and a newer interior (when compared to the 2013 model), in addition to better fuel economy, are among the elements that continue to make the 2015 Corolla so attractive to buyers of compact sedans.
